A Day in the Life on the People Team at Planview

“To win the marketplace, you must first win the workplace.”

– Doug Conant, Founder & CEO ConantLeadership

Having a successful company starts with the people inside and the Planview People team, or Human Resources, takes this to heart.

Recently, Planview followed a day in the life of a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (BP) at Planview in Israel. Today we are spotlighting another amazing Human Resources team member! This time we are traveling to Bangalore to chat with Varsha Sindhe, where she shares her experiences at Planview and what it is like to work on the People Team.

Here is what Varsha had to say:

Explain your role within the People Team and a few of your responsibilities.

I work as HR Business Partner for the Bangalore office. As anyone on the People Team knows, there is a lot to do! I manage Recruitment, Facilities, and Employee Engagement. Additionally, I work on other important day to day HR activities.

What type of meetings do you prepare for? Who do you typically collaborate with on the People Team?

I meet a lot of people every day. My meetings include potential candidates, stakeholders (Bangalore and Global), Planview leaders, and of course, my team. Before I sign off for the day, I check the next day’s schedule and make notes that need to be communicated in meetings.

Tell us about working from home – what are your tips for success?

It is all about finding a good pace and making sure that you stick to it. Also, I make sure that I complete my work when my child who is three and half, is in a good mood… which as any parent knows, can be a little tricky and unpredictable.

Tell us about your career journey to date?

I first joined Planview as a contract recruiter. Shortly after, I officially joined the Planview People Team as an employee and then I was promoted to HR BP. It all happened quickly within a span of two years. It has been an amazing journey so far!

How is Planview different from other companies you’ve worked for?

The first thing I noticed when I started is the Planview culture. Everyone is so welcoming!

Any excellent work, no matter how small, will be recognized by your peers and management.

For example, I have any innovative ideas that could bring change, it is always welcomed by my manager. What is even better is my ideas have been implemented within the People Team!

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as you’ve moved up in your career within the People Team?

This may be obvious, but it is nevertheless true; I have learned over the years to accept and welcome others’ views and their ideas.

How do you manage your work/life balance?

For anyone who has a lot of meetings like I do, it is incredibly important to take breaks in between meetings. Therefore, I block my calendar while taking breaks and I avoid working on weekends.

As a Human Resources BP on the People Team, how do you make time for your team?

I meet with my team every day! Also, we have casual Friday meetings just to chit-chat for 30 minutes and stay connected on a personal level.

What makes the People Team so effective?

Overall, what I like about the People Team is that everyone understands the importance of their contribution to the company and their job. Collectively, we understand our mission and collaborate well together. As I mentioned earlier, we accept our different views and listen to each other.

Are there any current job openings on your team?

Currently, we do not have any openings on our team, but there are open roles across departments.

Best career advice you have received?

My advice is short and sweet: always have data ready.

From your perspective, why is Planview a great place to work?

Maybe I am biased, but we are the best at what we do! Planview has an outstanding leadership team, exceedingly supportive peers, and most importantly, every opinion is welcomed and valued.

For fun, how do you unwind when you are off the clock?

I enjoy spending my free time with my daughter, and additionally, I watch lots of sitcoms. It is the perfect way to unwind from a busy workday!

Looking for new opportunities?

Planview is looking for talented and passionate new members to join our team. Thus, if you are looking for new opportunities make sure to browse our job openings on the Planview career page and apply online.
