I’m excited to launch “Eye on Innovation,” a brand-new series on the Planview Blog.
With these reports, we’ll connect you with what we’re doing at Planview and the market at large, echoing our conversations with highly effective teams and leaders at companies around the world.
Beyond that, we’ll review what’s new and notable across Planview’s solutions and how these capabilities enable you to reach your most critical objectives. Plus, you’ll get an early look at innovation that’s coming soon.
Today’s report explores the priorities for leaders in a volatile economy and how Planview empowers you to respond quickly as an aligned organization.
Flexibility and Alignment in Instability
Between geopolitical tensions, ongoing conflicts, and rollercoaster trade policies, some experts predict a near stall for the economy in 2025, according to surveys conducted on April 4 and April 7 by Wolters Kluwer Blue Chip Economic Indicators. Economists say the likelihood of a recession has increased to 47%, up from 25% in February.
Over the past several weeks, we’ve asked organizations how they’re navigating the uncertainty. Business and technology leaders alike said they’re actively seeking to eliminate friction so they can adapt quickly as an aligned organization.
- “We need to get out of our planning and funding silos – to consolidate and standardize on a platform.”
- “We have to be able to track where the money is going and if it connects to an initiative.”
- “We need visibility across the business – an enterprise transformation, not just a department transformation.”
- “We have to be outcome-driven, mixing in products with our projects.”
And that’s not all we heard.
What’s more, leaders in software and non-software companies shared their strategy-execution concerns – how they know everyone is busy but don’t know if they’re working on the tasks that will help them achieve their strategic goals.
A modern take on governance also emerged as an opportunity to build in practical, lightweight guardrails that provide visibility up and down across the organization.
Finally, leaders expressed another sentiment that isn’t new but perhaps more important now than ever – the need for IT and business to come together.
How We’re Responding
Hearing what matters to our customers – and the market at large – drives our innovation roadmap. With this feedback, we’ve created the leading platform for Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Digital Product Development (DPD).
While our solutions can support your business in any economy, we provide you with specific value in times of uncertainty. With Planview, you gain:
- Scenario modeling and comparison. Create and compare scenarios to evaluate impacts, balance trade-offs, and ensure delivery of the highest-priority, strategically aligned work.
- Resource capacity planning. Make informed decisions on projects and work based on resource capacity, availability, and utilization to meet current and future demands.
- Dynamic planning and prioritization. Visualize, prioritize, and adjust initiatives, programs, and product plans with roadmaps.
- AI-powered decision-making. Harness AI to deliver proactive insights and personalized recommendations, empowering your teams to make informed decisions, optimize resources, and adapt to changes in real time.
- Support for your hybrid world. Create a single line of sight into value and alignment, no matter your operating model: project, hybrid, or product and agile.
Investing in the software you need to navigate today’s uncertainty has near-term and long-term benefits. In the near term, you’ll add capabilities to prioritize project and product initiatives, make those plans real within constraints, and pivot with certainty when things change. In the long term, you’ll be prepared to act sooner in the next cycle of uncertainty.
What’s New and Notable
While the right strategy matters, the core organizational requirements for responding to uncertainty – like visibility, team engagement, and instant access to information – are often gained or lost in delivery.
These enhancements support leaders and teams in making more informed decisions, collaborating more effectively, and communicating clearly.
Logbook provides a flexible, configurable way to store business-relevant information in the context of your work, programs, and strategy. It counters the lack of enterprise visibility common in many businesses by providing visibility into changes, risks, issues, lessons learned, decisions, and more.
New capabilities are in Planview® AdaptiveWork: Planview® Copilot, Text Assistant, and Sentiment Analysis.
- Planview Copilot – the AI-powered assistant for connected work – helps teams navigate complex work environments by providing instant access to project insights, documentation, and intelligent recommendations that enhance productivity and decision-making. Note: Planview Copilot is also available for Portfolios, Viz, and AgilePlace.
- Text Assistant provides instant writing help that enables teams to create clearer, more professional content directly within their workflow. This saves time while ensuring consistent communication across all project work.
- Sentiment Analysis helps organizations better understand team dynamics and engagement by analyzing communication patterns. This allows leaders to address challenges proactively and foster more effective collaboration.
