Today’s healthcare industry is in a constant state of evolution. As research unearths disruptive findings, patient demographics become more diverse, and technologies advance at an increasingly rapid pace, groundbreaking ideas are crucial to effecting positive change.
The eHealth Initiative iThrive Innovation Challenge
The team at eHealth has just launched an exciting new open innovation challenge seeking ideas on how health technology can improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of healthcare, and they want to hear from you. The big question is:
In what ways might we achieve better patient care and increased patient engagement at a lower cost with better outcomes through innovative technology solutions?
Participants can submit ideas in three different categories surrounding: innovative technology that advances consumer-oriented health IT; technological solutions that reduce inappropriate variation and disparities in population health management; and finally, technologies that promote meaningful exchanges of healthcare data.
Health Care Challenge Success Stories
To give you some insight into how powerful an innovation challenge can be for the healthcare industry, just take a look at what organizations like Unitedhealth Group, Novant Health, and Cambia Health Solutions have accomplished:
- UnitedHealth Group is the largest health and well-being company in the United states, with more than 165,000 employees serving 85 million people worldwide. They use innovation challenges to engage employees across the enterprise in solving some of healthcare’s biggest roadblocks, resulting in thousands of ideas, radically improved patient care, and millions in cost savings.
- Novant’s progressive approach to issues facing today’s healthcare industry is driven by the belief that patient care should be galvanized by care providers. Furthermore, the patient experience should be simple and straightforward; Novant uses innovation challenges to align employees with strategic objectives, policy changes, and industry-wide updates, as well as provide a hub where they can collaborate on innovative solutions.
- Cambia Health Solutions launched its Innovation Force challenge program in 2011. At the time, an internal survey revealed that just 34% of Cambia employees encouraged innovation. In just three years, that number has risen to 84%. The company has now launched five subsidiaries, and now offers customized innovation services to their customers.
