We were excited to participate in the inaugural PDMA Texas chapter event last week in Dallas. It was an enthusiastic group of business leaders focused on connecting innovation with marketing and product development professionals at Texas-based companies to network, learn, and grow.
In addition to talking about the development and growth of the new Texas chapter, we spent time talking about a topic that is not only near and dear to my heart, but on the lips of everyone in the product development space: innovation. No question innovation is a very exciting topic, especially because, when done well, it changes the market rapidly and helps companies grow to achieve their strategic and financial objectives.
As the guest speaker, I was delighted to contribute to this topic with a presentation focused on uncovering what is true innovation and helping companies assess their level of maturity. Titled “When it Comes to Innovation, How Do You Stack Up?”, the presentation turned into a highly interactive discussion about where various attendees and their companies stand in regards to innovation maturity across people, processes, and tools. In fact, each attendee got up to the whiteboard and graphed how they rank their organizations across these three areas.
I was able to share some insights on how companies throughout the world rank themselves in those same categories, so we could analyze and discuss where the attendees compared and contrasted to the industry as a whole. This data provided attendees with a sneak peek at the upcoming 4th Product Portfolio Management Benchmark Study conducted by Appleseed Partners and Open Sky Research and commissioned by Planview, which will be available later this fall. In the meantime, you can review the findings of the 3rd Product Portfolio Management Benchmark Study here.
So are you too wondering how your organization ranks compared to others when it comes to innovation? Drop me a note and we can schedule a few minutes to uncover it for your business. I can be reached at [email protected].
