At the 2016 Horizons Customer Conference, I had the opportunity to rub elbows with some folks with very familiar names. Many of them had used Troux for years, and some had even staked their careers on it. I was now face-to face with the Troux user base and I was eager to hear what they had to say.
During those three days, I got the opportunity to spend some quality time with many enterprise and solutions architects from different market sectors and areas of the business. While their feedback was certainly varied one thing was abundantly clear…they all wanted to expand the value they were getting from Troux to decision makers throughout the company but they had a user experience challenge. In their words, Troux was strong for experts but a challenge for less experienced or occasional users, particularly those outside the core EA team. They desperately wanted Troux in the hands of more users but they all felt that Troux was simply not usable for the masses.
Fast forward nine months and today, I am so excited to share that Planview has released the latest version of Troux 14 that we are calling the new Troux! Why? Because the new Troux simplifies the way customers conduct business by helping to expand the reach and value of Enterprise Architecture across the organization. The new Troux now complements traditional EA disciplines with a portfolio-centric information architecture and user experience. By combining a streamlined ribbon navigation, powerful visualizations, interactive grids, and a new reporting platform, the new Troux brings scale and business context to decision making, allowing Enterprise Architects to reach beyond the core team to engage stakeholders across the organization.
Here’s a summary of the amazing features you can expect with the new Troux:
- New unified, portfolio-driven user experience for focusing on relevant components and quickly analyzing portfolios from different perspectives
- Portfolio manager grid for organizing portfolios and reviewing and editing components
- Ribbons and tiles for quickly analyzing each portfolio
- Contextual, embedded reporting with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services for creating comprehensive and relevant reports
- Strategic Planner user type for connecting strategic, business, and technology portfolios
This release fulfills a key part of our strategic vision and promise to customers to deliver a user experience that is not only modernized and pretty to look at but also provides an intuitive and easy to use interface where real, tangible value can be realized across the organization, by more groups in the organization.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the Troux Inner Circle. The Troux User Experience Inner Circle consisted of more than 40 customers, many of whom were in that original group of that I spoke with at the Horizons conference last year. This Inner Circle provided direction and feedback every step of the way over a nine-month development process, discussing everything from UI prototypes, use-case validation, to data visualizations. I can’t thank our customers enough for their insights and feedback throughout the development process. They really are the reason that Troux 14 is the New Troux.
