Project management conferences to look forward to in 2017

Published By Team AdaptiveWork

The world of project management is constantly evolving. Every year, new methodologies are developed, new standards are proposed and project management principles are applied to business challenges in new and exciting ways. Project management conferences provide a great opportunity to learn about these industry developments before they become common knowledge, while having the chance to network with like-minded individuals you may learn a thing or two from.

2017 project management conferences

Whether you’re an experienced project manager with dozens of successful projects in your past, or a new PM still learning the ropes, it’s a good idea to attend at least one conference for project management professionals each year. Project management events may be the single best way to keep yourself connected to the project management community and to keep yourself up to date on the latest news and innovations in your field. Here’s a list of events you might want to put on your calendar as you prepare for a successful 2017.

PMI Global Conference

One of the most prominent events of 2017 will be the PMI Global Conference in Chicago. Described as “the largest gathering of project, program and portfolio managers from around the globe,” the PMI Global Conference will bring together thousands of project management professionals from October 26 to October 30. The event schedule includes in-depth seminars on industry-specific topics, dozens of speeches and breakout sessions and even an opportunity to get involved in a community service project. Related events before and after the Global Conference itself provide even more chances for networking and discussion.

INROP 2017

The International Research Network on Organizing by Projects event will take place at Boston University this year, from June 11 to June 14. Following a workshop on the opening Sunday, the conference will feature three days of sessions in which prominent project management professionals and academics will present their latest research. With a theme of “The Modern Project: Mindsets, Toolsets, and Theoretical Frameworks,” INROP is an appealing event for anyone interested in the theory and academic study of project management.

ProjectSummit*BusinessAnalystWorld

ProjectSummit*BusinessAnalystWorld is a popular series of educational and training conferences for project professionals. The 2017 calendar includes events in Atlanta, Dallas and Washington DC, in addition to two conferences in Canada. Project managers looking for Professional Development Units or Continuing Development Units can earn educational credits by attending these events.

Change Management 2017

This annual conference, hosted by the Association of Change Management Professionals, is an excellent opportunity to learn more about guiding companies, employees and project teams through periods of change. This year’s Change Management event, taking place in New Orleans from May 21 to May 24, will feature three full days of informative sessions, in addition to a variety of networking and social events.
