So hearing from people who have been there and done that can be wildly helpful.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Open Innovation and Collaboration<\/strong> \u2013 Gone are the days of thinking that good ideas can only come from R&amp;D. But partnering outside of your own department or company and even with the competition (whaaa?) can be challenging.\u00a0 Take a few tips from the experts if you think this will give your innovation program a boost.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keep your eyes open for these themes to show up in a variety of presentations throughout the conference.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Q: What can I do to get the most out of this 2-day show?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>A: Good question!\u00a0 I believe there are 3 things you can do to get the most out of the event:\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>BE THERE FULLY<\/strong> \u2013 I attend anywhere from 5-10 events a year and it\u2019s easy to get distracted or pulled into things going on in the office. But the more present you can be, the more your mind can spark and make connections on how to advance your own innovation program.\u00a0 That\u2019s how creativity works and it can\u2019t work if you\u2019re multi-tasking.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>BE NUGGET-FOCUSED<\/strong> \u2013 Have the goal of gathering 1 or 2 nuggets from each presentation. What would you share with a colleague? \u00a0What would you tweet in 140 characters or less?\u00a0 Write them down and review them the day after you get back to the office.\u00a0 Or, do what I do and live tweet at the event \u2013 my twitter feed becomes a review of the most important lessons I learned.\u00a0 (Check out my event tweets <a title=\"Carre Nauyalis' Twitter Handle @PDPMprincess\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PDPMprincess\" target=\"_blank\">@PDPMprincess<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>NETWORK<\/strong> \u2013 This can be painful for us introverts, but in a world of open innovation, it\u2019s critical. Talk to the vendors.\u00a0 Sit by the people you don\u2019t know at lunch.\u00a0 Ask questions of the speakers.\u00a0 The event will be so much more valuable if you stretch out of your comfort zone.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><strong>Q: What\u2019s your favorite place to visit in NYC?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><u><\/u><strong>A: Well, I\u2019m a complex girl, Tim<\/strong> \u2013 both a lover of the city and the peacefulness of the park.\u00a0 There is an amazing calm and quiet that happens in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.centralparknyc.org\/things-to-see-and-do\/\">Central Park<\/a>, so, that is an easy choice.\u00a0 When it comes to the energy and electricity of Manhattan, there is a vibration you can feel coursing through your blood when you visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timessquarenyc.org\/\">Times Square<\/a> and Broadway.\u00a0 There is no other place on earth like it.\u00a0 And for the folks who want something in between, I\u2019m madly in love with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehighline.org\/visit\">High Line<\/a>.\u00a0 It\u2019s so eclectic and funky.\u00a0 (And then there is always honey pizza . . .)<\/p>\n<p>You can find out more about the <a title=\"Chief Innovation Officer Event\" href=\"https:\/\/theinnovationenterprise.com\/summits\/cino-new-york-16\" target=\"_blank\">Chief Innovation Officer Event<\/a>,\u00a0as well as Carrie\u2019s scheduled Presentation:\u00a0<a title=\"Strategies First.
