More than\u00a0130 Planview AgilePlace employees from across the country (and even some from across the pond!) gathered at HQ in Franklin, Tenn., last week for a time of learning, collaborating and planning\u00a0for what lies ahead. As a nod to our\u00a0Kanban<\/a>\u00a0roots, we\u2019ve named these weeks \u201cpull planning\u201d sessions, which serve as a time to reflect on our progress and align on what\u00a0work we\u2019ll pull next.<\/p>\n

About one third of our employees work remotely, so we all cherished this week as a rare opportunity to have the whole company together.<\/p>\n

Mission, Vision, Values<\/h3>\n

For many Planview AgilePlace employees, the evening was a reminder of just how far the company has come in its short history. Planview AgilePlace was founded in 2009 by four corporate IT intrapreneurs\u00a0who were tired of clunky, unhelpful project management tools. They wanted to build software people that actually\u00a0wanted<\/em>\u00a0to use, and build a company that was Lean from the ground up.<\/p>\n

They started developing their own tool at night and on weekends, out of their dining rooms and basements. Even before it was built, they promoted their tool at tech conferences under the name Bandit Software, named after a family dog. Certain that they had something powerful, the four founders quit their day jobs and founded Planview AgilePlace.<\/p>\n

Our founders were intent on creating an organization that they\u2019d want to work for. They focused on two core values, which have shaped Planview AgilePlace throughout its growth: Respect for people and continuous improvement. As we\u2019ve grown, we\u2019ve added a third core value that has been critical to our mission: Relentless focus on delivering customer value.<\/p>\n

Fast forward seven years, and the lasting power of these values is readily apparent: Whether embodied through retrospectives, planning sessions, casual coffee breaks or even team yoga sessions, it\u2019s clear that Planview AgilePlace is a place where people truly care for each other, the mission of this company, and for continuing to innovate and\u00a0grow together.<\/p>\n

Planview AgilePlace Day at the Races<\/h3>\n

The Day at the Races was an opportunity for Planview AgilePlace employees to showcase their unique talents\u00a0outside<\/em>\u00a0the office, in a variety of events:\u00a0From pie eating to egg tossing, from tug of war to a Nerf gun shootout, the competitive spirit\u00a0was simply palpable.<\/p>\n

Planview AgilePlace Geek Jam Band<\/h3>\n

Thanks to\u00a0our location in the Nashville area, we\u2019re the fortunate beneficiaries of the overlap\u00a0between developer talent and musical talent. The Planview AgilePlace Geek Jam Band played for hours, putting their innovative spin on tunes from \u201cPride and Joy\u201d by Stevie Ray Vaughan to \u201cNo Diggity\u201d by Blackstreet.<\/p>\n

Reflections<\/h3>\n

In an environment of continuous improvement, it\u2019s easy to always\u00a0stay focused\u00a0on what\u2019s next. Last week was an excellent reminder of the importance of reflection.<\/p>\n

At our company-wide meeting, team members shared\u00a0stories from customers about how Planview AgilePlace helps people all over the world be happier and more productive in their jobs,\u00a0and enables organizations\u00a0to deliver more value to their customers.\u00a0This was the vision our founders believed in\u00a0from day one \u2014 a vision\u00a0that fuels every\u00a0team in this company to do good work, to innovate and to stay focused on what matters.<\/p>\n

Planview AgilePlace is looking forward to even more growth and innovation in the second half of 2016.
