Well, that&#x2019;s no longer the case!&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artifact union is a handy new feature that can enrich your integrations and unlock additional use cases. With artifact union, you can select specific fields from a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">related artifact<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to flow over to the destination repository along with the artifact itself.&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artifact union can be extremely useful to:&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide more context to the artifact in the destination repository, by &#x2018;grabbing&#x2019; additional data from a related artifact.&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use fields from a related artifact in the integration configuration (filtering, routing, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Align artifact data structures between tools, like the example of exchanging test management data between MF ALM and ALM Octane (read more below).&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are just a few examples showing how Artifact Union can be used:&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When flowing <\/span><b>Epics <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from Jira Align, include the parent Theme&#x2019;s name&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When flowing Stories from Azure DevOps, include the parent Feature&#x2019;s name and description<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When flowing a <\/span><b>Problem Task<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from ServiceNow, include its parent Problem&#x2019;s ID<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When flowing <\/span><b>Tasks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from Rally, create a filter to exclude tasks whose parent has not yet been assigned to a team&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11268\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11268\" style=\"width: 526px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img class=\"lazyload\" alt height=\"365\" data-src=\"https:\/\/media.planview.com\/tasktop_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/unnamed-1.png\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11268\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Artifact Union can include fields from a related artifact in the model<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When setting up a Collection, a new Artifact Union sash prompts you to select the related artifacts to use for artifact union. In this integration scenario, the challenge is synchronizing test steps between the two tools:&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In ALM, <\/span><b>Test Steps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are sub-elements of the <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact and referenced by a specific <\/span><b>Test Instance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In ALM Octane, <\/span><b>Test Steps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are fields on the <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact.&#xA0;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal is to synchronize the ALM <\/span><b>Test Instance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact with the ALM Octane<\/span><b> Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact, while including the<\/span><b> Test Steps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that exist on the related ALM <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact.&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The image below describes this use case:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" alt height=\"449\" data-src=\"https:\/\/media.planview.com\/tasktop_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/unnamed.png\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artifact union makes this possible by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">uniting<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the ALM<\/span><b> Test Instance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact with the <\/span><b>Test Steps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on its related <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact. The integration synchronizes the amalgamated data into the <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artifact in Octane. Now you can view up to six months of changes in the admin interface itself, including the date of change, name of user who made the change and a description of the change.&#xA0;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For easy access and review, recorded changes are hyperlinked to the configuration element that&#x2019;s been edited.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>New Connector: Mercedes-Benz Defect and Test Management for EE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mercedes-Benz\/Daimler AG (STARC) recently replaced its supplier defect and test management tool for its internal E\/E system.
