A prime example of that is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that the country now has 5.7 million small businesses<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a record number, which have a combined turnover of more than $1.8 trillion. This number has <\/span><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/startups.co.uk\/news\/government-stats-reveal-theres-one-million-start-ups-today-seven-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increased by one million over the past seven years<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which UK business can at least partly attribute to the considerable government support for small businesses and startups since 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"lazyload\" alt=\"\" height=\"400\" data-src=\"https:\/\/media.planview.com\/clarizen\/wp-content\/upload\/2018\/07\/17.-start-business.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These measures have included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a 10-year plan aiming to facilitate an extra $26.5 billion dollars in investment in small firms<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a $3 billion package to reduce local taxes (council rates)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more than $1 billion in fuel subsidies<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the creation of nationwide local hubs that support and advise startups and existing small businesses<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the provision of over 50,000 special \u201cStartup Loans\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the British Business Bank has provided more than $4.5 billion of finance to nearly 60,000 small businesses and startups<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The Rise of #beyourownboss2018<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with this governmental support, the environment in Britain in general has become very conducive to helping startups grow.
